PAYTON & CRAZYWATER
In 1997, Texas singer/songwriter, Payton Grubaugh, started Payton & Crazywater as a showcase for his songwriting catalog. Joined by his brother, bassist and music arranger Linc Grubaugh, as well as other contributing musicians over the years, Payton has created a diverse repertoire of Americana, Texas Country, and bluegrass music, as well as soulful ballads and traditional Country Music.
Payton and his brother were born and reared in the rich history of Mineral Wells, Texas. Linc was born in that town’s historic Crazy Water Hotel. Payton and Linc’s mother, Doris Ashley, was also born in the Crazy Water Hotel and is their piano player for studio recordings. It is from this connection to the Crazy Water hotel that the band took its name, as well as from the local mineral water that once made the town of Mineral Wells famous.
On the current album, "I Come From Texas", Payton & Crazywater is joined by renowned multi-instrumentalist, Milo Deering. Deering is a phenomenal musician who has recorded with many great talents throughout his career. Milo has recently recorded with Don Henley of the Eagles and toured as part of Henley’s band. He has also recorded and performed with Lee Ann Rimes, Jack Ingram, The Josh Abbott Band, Steve Holy, Deryl Dodd, and many others.

Payton Grubaugh began writing songs in 1996 after the music of Buddy Holly inspired him to purchase his first guitar. Coming from a very musical family, his songwriting came to be influenced by many genres of music and a variety artists. The roots of his songwriting style can primarily be found in classic Country, Bluegrass, the Folk music of the 60's and 70's, and most notably Americana and Texas Country. Some of his most notable writing influences include: Tom Russell, Guy Clark, Max Stalling, Townes Van Zandt, Alison Krauss, Buddy Holly, John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, and Marty Robbins. Payton was born in Mineral Wells, TX and currently resides in Sherman, TX
LINC GRUBAUGH
ACOUSTIC BASS, ELECTRIC BASS
Linc Grubaugh was born in the historic Crazy Water Hotel in Mineral Wells, TX. He began playing bass guitar in 1996 and adds a solid foundation to Payton & Crazywater’s sound. In addition to playing bass, Linc also arranges the songs and helps to create the final sound of the studio recordings. Some of Linc's musical inspirations include: Buddy Holly, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams, Jr., Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, John Denver, Alison Krauss, and Ricky Skaggs. Linc also co-wrote the song "Lonesome Memories" which appears on the "I Come From Texas" album.
